Leading regional hirer Rentool with branches in Hampshire and Dorset, have further expanded their fleet of Thwaites dumpers in a recent deal that saw 4 x 1.5-tonne Power Swivel models enter the fleet for the first time. The wider order of 10 x machines, which includes a mix of 3-tonne & 2-tonne units grows the company’s Thwaites only fleet to 110 dumpers.
Founded in 1982 by former Selwood colleagues Mike Jackson and Bill Collings, the business has blossomed to offer a wide range of plant, tool and indeed haulage, to hirers across the south coast.
Since 2019 the business has been managed by the owners two sons, Ben Collings and Toby Jackson. Both got the rental bug during their formative years. Today as company directors they continue to drive Rentool forwards.
Speaking about the deal and relationship Ben Collings said, “The first Thwaites dumper entered the Rentool fleet some 34 years ago. We have tried other dumpers over the years, but we always come back to Thwaites”.
Regarding the first-time purchase of 4 x 1.5-tonne power swivel dumpers, we asked Ben about why this product now. “Having run 1.5-tonne hi-tip swivel machines previously, I was looking on the Thwaites website and saw the 1.5-tonne power swivel, this led to a conversation with our Thwaites distributor CBL, who were able to satisfy my curiosity”.
Ben continued… “The power swivel function, we believe, gives Rentool a competitive advantage as we deal with many contractors in the utility, domestic landscape and property extension sector where space can be tight. This machine and the solution provided appear from our study to not be prevalent with other hirers”.
The ideal machine when working in confined spaces or where access is limited and with a width of just 1300mm, the 1.5-tonne power swivel dumper has a user-friendly hydrostatic transmission. Optimising manoeuvrability and positioning of the 180-degree rotating skip.
Thwaites Distributor Manager Paul Rodwell said, “Many thanks to Ben & Toby for once again putting their faith in Thwaites and for choosing the 1.5-tonne power swivel machines. My appreciation also goes to the CBL team who as ever did a sterling job in facilitating the correct machine selection”.
As a testimony of the choice, two of the 1.5-tonne power swivel machines delivered already by Thwaites from this deal, have gone from the ready line straight out on hire.
We welcomed both Ben and Toby to the Thwaites factory recently, where they were able to see firsthand the engineering excellence that goes into the manufacturing of every dumper that leaves the factory.
