Site dumper manufacturer, Thwaites, has revealed its investment in a significant factory expansion at its Leamington Spa headquarters. The new 43,000 sqm unit, to be sited next to the existing factory array, will open in the summer of 2025.

Thwaites, who has manufactured from the same Leamington Spa site since 1937, have continually invested in the site to support its growth and reputation. However, this expansion is the largest in the sites 87-year history.

With a new 43,000 sqm factory unit at the heart of the plan, the new build will not only modernise the site but will enable manufacturing output improvements of up to 15%.

In addition, the plan includes the fitting of energy saving solar panels, next generation, alternative fuel cells that are estimated to provide up to 33% of the entire sites annual electrical demand.

The final part of the comprehensive plan will see the construction of a new two-way perimeter roadway, 212 fresh spaces for staff and visitor parking, 2 further accessible spaces have also been added with further investment in 58 new covered secure spaces for both motorcycles and cycles.

EV charging points have been added, increasing the on-site charging capability and spaces to 34.

Thwaites Commercial Manager Tim Frost said, “The plans are well advanced with the factory steelwork erected and car parks completed. All serving to only heighten our excitement as the project comes to life”.

Mr Frost continued, “The plan will make the site safer for all, improve output and further reduce the impact we have on the environment. We are equally pleased to provide improved working environments for the Thwaites team, not only in and around the new factory, but in the nature areas that were created as part of the pre-build”.
