This year’s UK Plant Operators Finals were held at CITB Bircham Newton. There was plenty going on, including at Takeuchi, where they had a busy challenge on the day. The challenge was the ‘Straight and Narrow’ trench test using the TB216 mini excavator to accurately complete a utilities trench. The TB216 challenge was the most popular on the day and completed by over 60 finalists.

The Takeuchi ‘Straight and Narrow’ contest was so close that the judges could not separate the top 3, putting all 3 into the final Dig-Off.

The day was packed full of various operator challenges across all types of construction plant and contestants were really put to the test, having to complete 5 challenges each.

Congratulations to all the finalists and winners. The final was as tense as previous years and featured a Takeuchi 15 tonne TB2150R, used to lift and accurately position a 1-tonne concrete block.

All of the operators, their families and supporters helped to make the day a fantastic construction industry event. There was plenty to entertain and encourage future young operators into the industry.

Holly Cooke, Marketing Manager Takeuchi UK commented, “The UKPO Final gets better and better each year. Takeuchi UK have been a proud sponsor since the start. Finals day is a great opportunity to mix with some of the UK’s best operators. The challenges really put operators through their paces testing their nerves and skills. Well done all the winners on the day!”
