The dealership’s strategic location ensures excellent accessibility for customers, allowing Mellor Plant UK Ltd to swiftly deliver its specialist services, sales and repairs across Northwest England.
Yanmar has announced the integration of Blackburn-based Mellor Plant into its official dealer network. The strategic partnership significantly expands Yanmar’s presence across the region of Northwest England, including Manchester.
A new chapter with Yanmar CE
Mellor Plant, a family-run industrial equipment supplier, has been providing its specialist services and engineering expertise in the construction, agricultural, and forestry sectors for over a decade. Under the leadership of its founder and Director Gordon Hayes, the company has grown from a single van operation into a well-established dealership with modern facilities and a dedicated, close-knit team of 11 industry professionals.
The new Yanmar dealership marks a significant milestone in Mellor Plant’s journey, bringing a comprehensive range of Yanmar’s compact equipment to a broader customer base.
“We are thrilled to become an official dealer for Yanmar Compact Equipment EMEA,” said Gordon Hayes. “Yanmar engines and machines are renowned for their reliability and performance, and we are confident that our customers will appreciate the exceptional quality these products offer. The units truly speak for themselves; now it’s about spreading the word and encouraging our customers to experience them firsthand.”
New Northern horizons
Mellor Plant’s new dealership will cover a vast territory, stretching across Northwest England. This expansive region ensures that a diverse range of customers—from farmers and construction specialists to DIY enthusiasts—will have access to Yanmar’s equipment and support. Just off the A59, minutes from junction 31 of the M6, Mellor Plant is strategically positioned to provide swift and efficient service across the region, including major hubs like Manchester.
Mellor Plant will offer a comprehensive range of Yanmar equipment, with numerous machines already on-site and ready for customers to explore. The current lineup includes Yanmar’s ViO true zero tail swing excavator series. Among these, the versatile ViO50-6B, with an operating weight of 4,875 kg, is predicted to be particularly popular among urban construction and landscaping clients, thanks to its powerful Yanmar diesel engine and advanced hydraulic system. Additionally, the SV range, known for its Stage V compliance and ultra-tight turning configuration, is expected to be in high demand. The ultra-compact SV08-1C Conventional Tail excavator, weighing 1,035 kg, is ideal for tight spaces and small-scale tasks, making it a perfect fit for owner-operators and smaller businesses.
Engaging the community
Mellor Plant emphasises a customer-led approach, ensuring that the needs and preferences of their clients guide their inventory and services. Customers are encouraged to visit Mellor Plant’s facility to experience the power and precision of Yanmar’s machinery firsthand. The team also continues to foster strong community relationships through attending local shows, offering customers a unique opportunity to interact with their team of experts and gain in-depth knowledge about Yanmar’s cutting-edge machine range. The company recently attended the Great Eccleston Show, as well as the Royal Lancashire Agricultural Show; and has plans to host a local ‘Dig Day’ for its customers in early 2025.
“These machines already have a stellar reputation across the Northwest, and we are confident they will be warmly welcomed by our customers,” said Jess Hayes, Account Administrator at Mellor Plant and both business and life partner of Gordon Hayes. “Our approach is not about making a big splash but about integrating smoothly and showcasing our commitment to long-term support and reliability. We aim to build lasting relationships and provide the best possible experience. Our mission is clear: deliver unparalleled support with fast lead times and top-tier machinery, ensuring our customers’ success, one machine at a time.”
