Launched back in 2018, the 15C-1 model of JCB mini excavator was launched four years after the first new generation took to the stage in 2014. This conventional tail swing, 1,500 kg digger comes with either a full cab or a canopy – most of the second hand examples here at Plant Pages have the canopy option as weight is critical in this size of machine. With the 11.7kW engine that also features in larger JCB models, the Perkin 403J engine is well suited to the task in hand. Marketed as a lower specification machine than the larger sibling, the 16C-1 , our smaller machine is priced for the tool hire market whereas the larger 16C-1 is more at home working daily on site. The JCB 16C-1 mini digger was initially marketed in the UK alongside its smaller sibling, the 15C-1. Where the lower specified machine has fallen from the current model offering, the 16C-1 sits front and centre as the conventional tail swing, 1.6 tonne mini excavator of choice from the JCB stable of machines. Powered by a Perkins 403J-07 diesel engine with a gross power of 11.7kW, the difference between this machine and the 19C-1 further up the range is only related to digging depth, height and reach – the dimensions and power of the machines are identical. JCB 65R-1 (1)
The JCB 65R-1 is a reduced tail swing 6 tonne mini excavator model – these are similar to the zero swing, but the body will protrude from the width of the tracks – albeit to a lesser extent that the conventional version (JCB 67C-1). At this size, some operators refer to these machines as ‘Midi Excavators’ but we keep them in the ‘Mini’ class. The JCB 65R-1 uses a Perkins 404D-22 Stage 3A diesel engine rated at 35.7kW and a simple H-frame construction. Operators could specify 400mm rubber tracks or wider 550mm steel tracks when new – equally check the dipper length as the options when new varied from 1.65 to 2 metres. Similarly the dozer blade was optional so make sure there is one fitted if needed for your application. Read More

Looking to buy a used JCB 8008 CTS?
Here's some background information to help you decide. The Conventional tail swing JCB 8008 mini excavator is the smallest in JCB’s range of excavators.  Designed for small landscaping jobs, its compact size means it can fit through the side gates of most houses and is easy to transport from one site to another with a transport weight of around 800kgs. To help the digger fit through the smallest of gaps, the undercarriage retracts to a maximum width of just 700mm which can be extended to add stability when working to 865mm. The manufacturer understands that the operators of these machines may not always be as experienced as for larger machines. As a consequence, all hoses are protected by routing them through the boom itself. Many class the 8008 CTS as a micro-excavator, but at Plant Pages we categorise these still in the mini-excavator class. With 9kW of power, the machine has enough grunt for many jobs which it tackles with a class-leading dig depth and reach. Read More

JCB 8014 CTS (1)
This older-generation 8014 CTS conventional tail swing JCB mini excavator was replaced around 2018 by the 15C-1 and 16C-1 new generation of mini-diggers in the JCB lineup which is continually being refreshed with a couple of the older generation still in the current portfolio of machines. The highly popular 8014 CTS machine still features strongly in the used mini excavator market with good numbers of them always advertised at Plant Pages. Expect these numbers to drop over the years as we see increasing numbers of new-generation 16C-1 machines take their place in the used market. Using a 14.2kW engine, the lift capacity, dig envelope and tearout are all class leading with a 2.64m depth, 4.02m reach, 3.45m height. Read More

The most popular model of JCB mini diggers in the UK, the JCB 8018 CTS is the standard model that the operators are looking for. Weighing in at around 1.7 tonnes, the Perkins 14.7kW engine is perfect for the job.  These machines have a dig depth of just under 2.5 metres. Read More
JCB 8025 ZTS (4)
If you are working in tight spaces and need the added safety a zero tail swing mini excavator can provide, the ideal machine for operation in the UK is the JCB 8025 ZTS. When compared alongside JCB’s relevant conventional model, the 8026, the 8025 does fall short. Even though it is still powered by the same 1.5 litre 18.9kW Perkins engine, the conventional model has as much as an 82% better lift capacity than the 8025 ZTS. The machine is comfortable enough in the cab, but, again is less roomy than the conventional model. Our advice? If you have to have a zero tail swing model at an operating weight around the 2.5 to 3 tonne mark then the 8025 ZTS is for you. If you have more space to work then opt for the conventional model – there’s usually a better selection of them in the used market as well. Read More
JCB 8026 CTS (1)
Launched back in 2013, the conventional tail swing 8026 CTS is still offered by JCB in their 2.5 upwards range. Sharing the same 18.9kW power plant Is sits alongside the relevant zero tail swing model, the 8025 ZTS. The compact 8026 CTS has an operating weight of 2,867kg and has as much as an 82% better lift capacity than its ZTS sibling – so if you don’t need a zero tail swing model then this conventional version is a much better buy. Despite this impressive work rate, the 8026 CTS is still able to be towed behind a standard pickup with a 3.5 tonne towing capacity. With a fully glazed and heated cabin and impressive legroom, it means that an operator can spend longer in comfort in this machine. Read More
JCB 8030 ZTS (2)
The 3 tonne zero tail swing mini excavator from JCB, the 8030 ZTS is a true zero tail swing (as compared to a reduced swing version). With a wider undercarriage than the smaller 8025 model, the machine is powered by the Perkins 1.5 litre 20.9kW diesel engine. The machines were available as cab or canopy versions when new, so check the specifications carefully. The 8030 ZTS does not appear in the current JCB line up – operators would have to specify the smaller 8025 model or upgrade to the new generation 35Z-1 for the closest 3-tonne mini excavator. JCB JS130 LC (6)
The JCB JS130 LC tracked excavator is the most common model in the used 13-tonne excavator market in the UK.  It helps to be able to be transported by a 26-tonne, 3-axle truck, rather than relying on a low loader to get to site. There are typically more JS13 LC advertised here than any other model of JCB. At the 13-tonne operating weight, this comes as no surprise as they are as welcome on the farms as they are on the contraction sites of the UK. The 81kW engine in the latest models is the JCB EcoMAX 444 TCA. This engine is claimed to be 10% more effiecnt than the Tier 3 unit it replaced in the earlier model. JCB no longer market the JS130 - it has been replaced by the 131X LC. The fully-welded X-frame construction of the undercarriage lends long-term durability with the turret welded to both the upper and lower undercarriage frame. Read More

JCB JS131 LC (6)
The JCB JS131 LC is the hire specification version of the popular JS130 LC 13-tonne tracked excavator range. This means no SCR, so no Adblue needed, no DPF, but less power than the 130 model using the same EcoMax 444 engine. As a consequence, the JS131 runs more quietly than the 130 model. This JS131 LC model sold well in the new market and therefore used examples are plentiful The model has been replaced by the new 131X (note the loss of the 'JS' in the model name). The bucket capacity ranges from 0.35 to 0.89cubic metres and an operating weight from 13,991kg to 14,288kg depending on options taken - 2.1m vs 2.5m dipper length, for example. Read More

JCB JS145 LC (2)
The JCB JS145 LC is the long carriage version of the tracked excavator - there is an HD (heavy duty carriage version as well, both of these options have fully welded 'X' frame with sloping side members. Track shoe options in the JS145 LC are 500, 600 or 700mm. The tracked excavator is powered by JCB's EcoMax 444 Stage IV diesel with 81kW from its 4.4 litres and does not require the use of a DPF. Bucket capacity ranges from 0.34 to 0.85 cubic metres and operating weights from 14,511 kgs to 16,084 depending on LC or HD and the choice of boom and blade. This JS145 model has been superceded by the 140X and 150X stage V machines in JCB's latest lineup. Read More

JCB JS160 LC (2)
The JS160LC was available from 2007 until around 2103 with the Isuzu 92kW engine but was upgraded with the 2012 launch of the revised version with the JCB DieselMax 444 engine with 93kW, since upgraded to the 448 stage V with 97kW. These conventional tail swing excavators with an approximate operating weight of 17.5 tonnes to 19.5 tonnes are still marketed by JCB. Standard features of the JS160 LC are 7" colour screen, Rear camera, Heated air suspension seat, Climate control, Automatic Engine Shutdown, 2Go Hydraulic Isolation System, Cushioned boom and dipper ends. JCB JS220 LC (9)
When specifying new, buyers of the JCB JS220 LC (Long Carriage) could choose between a monoboom or a TAB (Triple Articulated Boom). The latest model was launched in 2013 and has since been replaced by JCB's latest new generation X Series machine the 220X. Powered by a 129kW EcoMAX T4i/Stage 3B engine, the later post 2013 model saw fuel consumption improvements of some 105 compared to the earlier models.  An added benefit for operators is no SCR, Adblue and DPF are needed. Operating weight is around the 22 tonnes mark with bucket capacity averaging out at 1.25 cubic metres. Read More

A common site on building sites and here on PlantPages, JCB Site Dumpers are always in demand. JCB manufactures Site Dumpers with payloads of 1 tonne, 3 tonnes, 6 tonnes, 7 tonnes and 9 tonnes - so a 1T has a payload of a tonne etc. Higher up the weight range, the site dumpers go from simple roll over protection bars (ROPS) to the option of a full cab (6T onwards).
