The JCB JS130 LC tracked excavator is the most common model in the used 13-tonne excavator market in the UK.  It helps to be able to be transported by a 26-tonne, 3-axle truck, rather than relying on a low loader to get to site. There are typically more JS13 LC advertised here than any other model of JCB. At the 13-tonne operating weight, this comes as no surprise as they are as welcome on the farms as they are on the contraction sites of the UK. The 81kW engine in the latest models is the JCB EcoMAX 444 TCA. This engine is claimed to be 10% more effiecnt than the Tier 3 unit it replaced in the earlier model. The JCB JS131 LC is the hire specification version of the popular JS130 LC 13-tonne tracked excavator range. This means no SCR, so no Adblue needed, no DPF, but less power than the 130 model using the same EcoMax 444 engine. As a consequence, the JS131 runs more quietly than the 130 model. This JS131 LC model sold well in the new market and therefore used examples are plentiful The model has been replaced by the new 131X (note the loss of the 'JS' in the model name). The JCB JS145 LC is the long carriage version of the tracked excavator - there is an HD (heavy duty carriage version as well, both of these options have fully welded 'X' frame with sloping side members. Track shoe options in the JS145 LC are 500, 600 or 700mm. The tracked excavator is powered by JCB's EcoMax 444 Stage IV diesel with 81kW from its 4.4 litres and does not require the use of a DPF. Bucket capacity ranges from 0.34 to 0.85 cubic metres and operating weights from 14,511 kgs to 16,084 depending on LC or HD and the choice of boom and blade. The JS160LC was available from 2007 until around 2103 with the Isuzu 92kW engine but was upgraded with the 2012 launch of the revised version with the JCB DieselMax 444 engine with 93kW, since upgraded to the 448 stage V with 97kW. These conventional tail swing excavators with an approximate operating weight of 17.5 tonnes to 19.5 tonnes are still marketed by JCB. When specifying new, buyers of the JCB JS220 LC (Long Carriage) could choose between a monoboom or a TAB (Triple Articulated Boom). The latest model was launched in 2013 and has since been replaced by JCB's latest new generation X Series machine the 220X. Powered by a 129kW EcoMAX T4i/Stage 3B engine, the later post 2013 model saw fuel consumption improvements of some 105 compared to the earlier models.  An added benefit for operators is no SCR, Adblue and DPF are needed. Launched in 2005, the JCB JZ140 was the first of the larger excavators to have the zero tail swing treatment by JCB.  The JZ140's original standard spec for UK operators includes a 4.7 m monoboom, 2.5 m dipper and 700 mm triple grousers and it can use all the popular JS130 buckets and attachments. Options include a dozer blade and digging depths are 2.1m to 3m. JCB claim that there is no significant trade off in digging performance for the JZ140 vs the conventional 130 but the machine is heavier so some consideration needs to be given regarding the transport of the excavator. 2010 saw a model change to the JZ140 LC with an engine change from the Isuzu tier II to the Tier III 73kW version (4JJIX). JCB are the world's largest manufacturer of backhoe loaders - many are made in the UK, but the company also has a huge backhoe loader factory in India. JCB are almost as famous for their mini-diggers in the UK as they are for their famous backhoe loaders. This means that there are always lots of used JCB mini-diggers for sale at PlantPages. in fact there are usually more JCB mini-diggers for sale here than from any other manufacturer. JCB made their first 801 mini-excavator as far back as 1989, hitting the 100,000 units mark in 2016. A common site on building sites and here on PlantPages, JCB Site Dumpers are always in demand. JCB manufactures Site Dumpers with payloads of 1 tonne, 3 tonnes, 6 tonnes, 7 tonnes and 9 tonnes - so a 1T has a payload of a tonne etc. Higher up the weight range, the site dumpers go from simple roll over protection bars (ROPS) to the option of a full cab (6T onwards). This means you will usually find a great choice of used JCB tracked excavators for sale here. The JCB tracked excavator range starts at 11 tonnes - everything smaller, the company classes as compact, or mini-excavators.  Expect to find some machines from 8-11 tonnes here in the tracked excavator category as we don't include these in the mini- category. The top-weight machines go right up to 37 tonnes and have two ranges - teh JS (JZ for zero tail swing) and the new X Series. The range comes in two main model lines - the one we are all familiar with, the 'JS' range and the new Hydradig range which, JCB claim, is the first purpose designed wheel excavator, as opposed to a tracked version being modified. These modern looking machines could well be the future for the 'JCB Rubber Duck'.
