Articulated Dump Trucks – or ADT’s for short are the backbone of the off-road dump truck market. Usually found at home around quarrying and road building, they are also used in waste transfer and anywhere that large amounts of materials need moving across rough terrain. Top manufacturers of the ADT include Volvo – who lay claim to inventing the first true ADT. South Africa’s Bell Equipment have been making articulated dumpers for over 3 decades and are very popular in the UK. Doosan are becoming a larger player in the market after swallowing up Moxy in 2008. Caterpillar build their machines in the UK after acquiring a British manufacturer in the 1990s and therefore hold some sway in the UK market. Finally Komatsu now make all the parts for their ADTs – after terminating an agreement with Moxy back in 1997. There is always a good selection of ADTs for sale at Plantpages – check back for new stock daily.
