There is always a wide range of mobile cranes available on plantpages. These cranes are specialist equipment and come with either a telescopic boom or lattice boom arrangement. The mobile crane represent a significant investment for the operator – check the number of road kilometres the crane has travelled but equally important is the number of operating hours the crane has worked while on site. Check also the drive configuration if it is an 8×8 – do six of the axles steer – an 8x6x8 ? This is key to manoeuvrability. Other items to consider when looking at used examples are whether there is a wind speed meter fitted, the lifting capacity an the length of the main boom.
